SAPZ Launches Community Engagement Campaign To Boost Agric Production In Kano

The Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones Programme (SAPZ) in Kano State on Saturday launched a community engagement and awareness campaign to improve knowledge on agricultural productivity among farmers in the state.
Implemented in six local government areas of Bichi, Dawakin Tofa, Danbatta, Gezawa, Garun Mallam and Bebeji, the programme aims to raise awareness among the public, particularly the target beneficiaries.
According to SAPZ Coordinator in the state, Muktar El-Kassim, the objective of the programme is to enhance agricultural productivity and enterprise development, promote agricultural value chains and job creation in the SAPZ catchment areas.
El-Kassim said that the programme also supports agro-industrial zone policy and institutional development.
He said the programme had four key components including Supporting Climate-Adapted Infrastructure and Developing infrastructure for agro-industrial hubs to support climate-resilient agriculture.
"Improving Agricultural Productivity, Enhancing agricultural productivity and enterprise development to boost agricultural value chains and job creation.
" Supporting Agro-Industrial Zone Policy, Promoting policy and institutional development to support agro-industrial zones.
" Managing programme coordination and addressing issues related to farmer registration, validation, and grievance redress,"the coordinator said.
The SAPZ programme is funded by the Federal Government with support from the African Development Bank(ADB), International Fund for Agricultural Development(IFAD), and the Islamic Development Bank(IDB).
It is being implemented in seven states, including Kano and the Federal Capital Territory.
