In continuation of the ongoing polio eradication campaign, Dr. Mayana, Chairman of the World Health Organization (WHO) Kano office, paid a supervisory visit to one of the fixed posts located at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) today,
The visit was part of WHO’s efforts to monitor and ensure the smooth execution of the polio vaccination drive, which is in its fourth day across Kano State. Dr. Mayana commended the staff and volunteers at the AKTH post for their dedication to the mission of eradicating polio, especially through efficient vaccine administration.
Dr mayana said We are making significant progress in this campaign, and it is vital that we maintain momentum. Immunization is key to ensuring the future health of our children and eliminating polio once and for all.
The polio vaccination campaign continues to target children under the age of five, with fixed posts like the one at AKTH playing a crucial role in reaching the local population. The WHO, in collaboration with Tarauni Local Government health officials, is dedicated to achieving 100% coverage during this campaign.
The acting chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammad Arabu, expressed his appreciation to the district head, ward heads, and imams for their continuous efforts in enlightening the community on the importance of polio immunization during the ongoing campaign in the area.
the Primary Health Coordinator of Tarauni Local Government, Hajiya Saratu Ibrahim, and the Manager of the Maternal and Perinatal Immunization (MPI) program, Mallam Kamilu, assured that they will continue to redouble their efforts to achieve the program’s success.
