Gov Yusuf Proposes 549 Billion For 2025

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Friday proposed a budget of the sum of N549,160,417,663.00 for the 2025 fiscal year.
Yusuf presented the budget proposal to the State House of Assembly during a plenary session held at the Chambers of the legislature.
Tagged:“Budget of Hope, Human Capital and Economic Development,” the Estimates contained a capital component of the sum of N312,634,912,672.18 billion, and the recurrent expenditure of N236,525,504,990.82 billion.
If approved,the Governor said,the budget is projected to have a ratio of Capital to Recurrent of 57:43 percent respectively.
He said most of the capital spending would be in the Social and Economic Sectors to the tune of 461,447,963,240.86.
He said the Education sector gulped the largest share with N168.35 billion which is equivalent to 31 percent of the budget,while the sum of N90.6 billion (16.5 percent) is located to the Health sector.
Other areas with topmost priority include Agriculture with the sum of N21.04 billion (3.83 percent),followed by Infrastructure Development with the sum of N70.68 billion (12.87 percent).
The sum of N3.89 billion (1.22 percent) was allocated to Manufacturing, Commerce, Industry, and Tourism,while Environment and Sanitation will gulp the sum of N15.52 billion (2.83 percent).
Yusuf said that the sum of N98.24 billion (17.57 percent) was set aside for Governance Institutions, while Security, Justice and Emergency Services got N23.46 billion (4 percent)
Water Supply and Rural Development were allocated N27.24 billion (4.96 percent), while Transport Development got N12.81 billion (2.33 percent),he said.
Others include Women, Youth and People with Special Needs sectors which got N17.34 billion (3.15 percent)
The Governor said government will prioritise human capital and infrastructure development and ensure increased access to quality education, despite the meager resources available to the government.
"We promise to faithfully implement the provisions of this Budget for the general good and well-being of our people. We will not relent in our resolve to alleviate poverty and restore hope, create wealth, generate employment, stimulate agriculture, improve electricity and maximise the overall well-being of our people.
“I beseech you, therefore, to hastily consider and approve the 2025 Budget Proposals," he said.
